Diabetes Mellitus

A heterogeneous group of disorders characterized by HYPERGLYCEMIA and GLUCOSE INTOLERANCE.


Hyperglycemia

Abnormally high BLOOD GLUCOSE level, beyond the normal range (roughly 70 to 150 mg/100 ml of PLASMA).

Glucose

A primary source of energy for living organisms. It is naturally occurring and is found in fruits and other parts of plants in its free state. It is used therapeutically in fluid and nutrient replacement.
